Movie Review

Soon Ok lives on an island with her son Ki Kang and her daughet Ki Soon. Ki Kang stole garlic harvest at fields and use the money to having fun at main land. Some police come to arrest Ki Kang and his friends. Soon Ok bribes the police to release Ki Kang. The police told her to make settlement with the victim.

Ki Kang stole Soon Ok money and run away to Seoul with his freind. Ki Kang becomes a criminal and he receives death sentence. Soon Ok went to the prison to visit Ki Kang. She met with a lawyer there, and ask him to save Ki Kang. The lawyer told her to make a petition for lenient punishment.

Soon Ok ask the villagers to make petition for Ki Kang. She learn to read and write to help her son. Ki Kang befriend with another death convict, but one day his friend executed and he become furious. Soon Ok condition drop and Ki Soon help her to get petition later from the villagers.

Ki Kang hear about the test for special occasion, If he can answer the test he can meet face to face with his mother. Ki Kang start to study all day and night, his cell mate cheering for him too. He passed the test and sent letter to Soon Ok to visit him on time.

Ki Kang waiting for Soon Ok with happy feeling, but until the end of visiting time Soon Ok didn't come. The officer told Ki Kang that his mother was passed away at the train on the way to meet Ki Kang. Ki Kang cried and plead to let him out to see his mother.

Some other time, Ki Kang went to the court and the court cancel his death sentence into life long imprisonment


I cry while watching the movie, especially when Soon Ok pass away while smiling in the train. Another scene when Ki Kang cry and said sorry for his mother. Totally heart ache. Soon Ok motherly love for Ki Kang and try to do everything to help her son. Please enjoy the movie, it's really great!

Introduction Bibimbap is a signature Korean dish. The word literally means "mixed rice". Bibimbap is served as a bowl of warm white rice topped with namul (sauteed and seasoned vegetables) and gochujang (chili pepper paste).
