Taebaek Sunflower Festival - 태백 해바라기축제

Introduction
Guwau Village (Taebaek, Gangwon-do) is host to the Taebaek Sunflower Festival, a celebration of the area's wide array of colorful wildflowers and endless fields of sunflowers (the largest sunflower patch in Korea). Held in August, the festival takes place in the middle of a 544,000m2 stretch of land and includes a 5km-stretch of vibrant sunflowers. In addition to the astounding natural beauty, there are also a number of exhibitions of works by Korean/international artists and artists belonging to HALATEC (Hal Art & Technology), Triangle Project, and more. The festival offers a variety of fun and exciting programs including a petting zoo (rabbits, goats, ducks, etc.), small concerts around a campfire, nature films and documentaries, and a Taebaek arare performance.

From Dong Seoul Bus Terminal, take an intercity bus to Taebaek Terminal
*Bus schedule: 06:00-23:00. 30 min. intervals / Travel time: 3hrs, 10 min
From Taebaek Terminal, take a taxi to Highlands Botanical Garden (고원자생식물원).

[By Train]
From Seoul Station to Taebaek Station (Estimated travel time: 4 hr)
Go to Korail for train shedules
From Taebaek Station, take bus #13 and get off at Korea Water Resources Corporation (수자원공사) bus stop.
Highlands Botanical Garden is about a 7 min walk from the bus stop.

Bibimbap - 비빔밥

Introduction Bibimbap is a signature Korean dish. The word literally means "mixed rice". Bibimbap is served as a bowl of warm white rice topped with namul (sauteed and seasoned vegetables) and gochujang (chili pepper paste). A raw or fried egg and sliced meat (usually beef) are common additions. The ingredients are stirred together thoroughly just before eating. It can be served either cold or hot. In Korea, Jeonju, Jinju, and Tongyeong are especially famous for their versions of bibimbap . In 2011, it was listed at number 40 on the World's 50 most delicious foods readers' poll compiled by CNN Travel. History Bibimbap is first mentioned in the Siuijeonseo , an anonymous cookbook from the late 19th century. There its name is given as 부븸밥 ( bubuimbap ).
